Size guide

How to find your child's size:

Measure your child without clothes. Then find the measurement in the chart and read the size that fits best. All clothing includes an allowance for movement.
Follow chest measurements for tops and dresses, and waist and hip measurements for bottoms.

At Småfolk, we produce clothes according to Scandinavian size charts, which are generally larger due to our high average height.

We always recommend buying age-appropriate clothing and accessories.  

How to measure your child:

1. Height - Place the child against a wall with their legs together and measure from the top of the head to the floor.
2. Chest circumference - Measure around the chest, just under the armpit where the child is widest. The child should stand with their arms by their sides.
3. Waist circumference - Measure around the waist, at the narrowest point of the torso. The child should stand with their arms by their sides.
4. Hip circumference - Measure around the hips, at the widest point of the bottom.
5. Inside leg length - Measure from the crotch down the leg to the floor.
6. Head circumference - Measure around the head, at the widest point. The measurement should be taken close to the head.
7. Hand length - Measure from the wrist to the fingertip, along the back of the hand.
8. Foot length - Measure the length from the heel to the tip of the big toe. The child should stand up so that the weight is correctly distributed on the foot. If necessary, place the child's foot on the tape measure to make it easier to read. To allow for growth, add 1.5 cm to the measurement and then choose the size where the measurement best corresponds to the length of the inner sole in the chart below.

Baby 0 - 3 years

Baby sizes are indicated by the child's height. For example, if the child measures 74 cm in height, this corresponds to our size 6-9 months.

At Småfolk, we also sell clothing for premature babies, down to size 32.

Swimwear: Småfolk swimwear is slightly smaller in size compared to our regular clothing. Therefore, it is recommended to go up one size if you are in doubt.

Junior 1-8 years

Junior sizes are indicated by the child's age and height.
For example, if the child is 3 years old, they will typically have a height of approx. 98 cm.

It is a good idea to measure the child to get an idea of which size is most equivalent.

Swimwear: Småfolk swimwear is slightly smaller in size compared to our regular clothing. Therefore, it is recommended to go up one size if you are in doubt.

Accessories, hats, beanies and mittens

For beanies and hats, measure around the child's head at the widest point. The measurement should be taken close to the head.

For mittens, measure from the wrist to the fingertip, along the back of the hand.
