Wash and care

Children jump in puddles, roll down hills, make mud pies – in short: when children play, their clothes get filthy – and that's how it should be!

Here are some washing tips on how to wash and care for Småfolk products – also to make them last longer. Always remember to check the washing instructions on the clothing, as some products may have different washing instructions than those described below.

Washing our cotton products

We recommend washing our cotton clothing inside out and at a maximum of 30 °C. Washing inside out protects the print on the fabric and ensures it stays looking good and the colors remain vibrant. We recommend air-drying the product, rather than tumble drying or using a drying cabinet, as this extends the life of the fabric and print.

Our cotton products can be ironed at a low temperature. Our cotton products are not bleach-safe.

Washing our swimwear

The UV factor in our swimwear is knitted into the fabric, which retains the UV factor, swim after swim. We recommend washing our UPF50+ swimwear by hand and not in a machine, as machine washing can degrade the UV factor.

Rinse the swimwear in clean, cold tap water immediately after swimming. Avoid drying the swimwear in a tumble dryer, drying cabinet, or in direct sunlight.

Our swimwear is not suitable for ironing or bleaching.

Washing our wool clothing

Wool clothing requires less washing as it is naturally antibacterial and reduces odor. We recommend washing your wool clothing as little as possible and instead utilizing wool's fantastic self-cleaning properties by simply airing the clothing before putting it back in the closet.

If the clothing needs a wash, we recommend machine washing on a wool program at 30 degrees or washing by hand in lukewarm water. For both, we recommend using wool detergent.

We advise against drying wool clothing in a tumble dryer or drying cabinet. Also avoid drying wool clothing in direct sunlight.

Our wool clothing is not suitable for bleaching or ironing.

Washing Småfolk rainwear

We recommend washing rainwear inside out at a maximum of 40 degrees. Washing inside out protects the outer side of the rainwear and extends its lifespan.

Our rainwear has taped seams, which helps ensure the clothing's waterproofness. Due to these taped seams, we advise against drying the clothing in a tumble dryer, drying cabinet, or using an iron, as this can damage the taped seams and impair the product's waterproofness.

Our rainwear is not bleach-safe.

Washing Småfolk thermal wear

Our thermal wear is surface-treated with Bionic Finish Eco, a biodegradable surface treatment that ensures the thermal wear is water-repellent and windproof.

We recommend washing our thermal wear inside out at a maximum of 40 degrees. Washing inside out protects the outer side of the clothing and the Bionic Finish Eco treatment. We advise against using fabric softener, as it impairs the clothing's technical properties. We advise against drying the clothing in a tumble dryer, drying cabinet, or using an iron, as this can impair the clothing's technical properties.

Our thermal wear is not bleach-safe.

Småfolk's winter jackets, ski pants, and snowsuits are surface-treated with Bionic Finish Eco, a biodegradable surface treatment that ensures your product has a water and dirt-repellent, windproof, and still breathable surface.
