Oeko-Tex Standard 100
All Småfolk products are made from Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified materials and our cotton products are fully Oeko-Tex certified. With a focus on quality, comfort, and safety for children at the forefront of everything we do, we at Småfolk are committed to limiting the use of harmful substances in our clothing.
The name OEKO-TEX® indicates human-ecological textile products that do not have harmful effects on human health and well-being. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 labeled products are analyzed for the content of several substances considered harmful to health.
In other words, OEKO-TEX® is a product label that ensures children are not exposed to health-damaging influences from our clothing and is your guarantee that a product has been checked for the content of harmful chemicals. Only products that meet the requirements set out in OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 can be authorized to carry the label.

Organic Cotton Products
Organic cotton is the primary material we use in our collections. We have chosen to use organic cotton for several reasons: no harmful pesticides are used, up to 94% less greenhouse gas is emitted than with conventional cultivation, and energy and water consumption are reduced.
We believe that our organic cotton products are a better alternative – for the environment, for the employees in cotton production, and not least for the children who will wear it against their skin. And we are proud that we were among the first children's clothing manufacturers in Denmark to use organic cotton.
Our cotton products are made of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane and are very soft and comfortable, giving children great freedom of movement. The fabric we use is produced in Turkey and is, of course, also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. The cotton used for our fabric is grown in Turkey and Sudan.
We use digital printing for our styles, which uses far less water in production and also minimizes fabric waste, as we can produce fewer meters of fabric than with other printing methods (e.g., roller printing). Digital printing also allows us to use many more colors at once – and we are happy about that because we love colors.
The color used for digital printing is, of course, also organic and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
Winter Outerwear and Thermal Clothing
All elements used in our winter outerwear that have direct contact with the skin from the outer materials, coating, as well as non-textile accessories such as buttons, reflectors, and zippers, are produced by our OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 suppliers. This means that no dangerous chemicals will come into contact with the skin when worn.
The winter outerwear is water and windproof and has high breathability (water column pressure: 10,000 mm, breathability: 10,000 g/m2/24 h.)
Our thermal clothing is not waterproof but water-repellent. It is perfect for when the temperature creeps up to +10 degrees, and the Bionic Finish Eco surface treatment ensures that the child stays warm and dry.
Bionic Finish Eco
All winter outerwear and thermal clothing from Småfolk is treated with Bionic Finish Eco, which is a biodegradable surface treatment that ensures your product has a water and dirt-repellent, windproof, and breathable surface.
Bionic Finish Eco ensures high breathability by preventing moisture from penetrating the fabric, while excess moisture from the body is automatically transported to the material's surface to evaporate. Bionic Finish Eco also helps to retain color longer.
Rainwear
Our rainwear is made of 100% polyurethane (PU/PUR), OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, and fluorine-free (PFC). The rainwear has welded seams and water-repellent zippers, ensuring a water column pressure of 10,000 mm and thus keeping water out on rainy days.
Mulesing-Free Wool Collection
We use merino wool in a number of our items in the wool collection. The wool also absorbs moisture without feeling wet or cold. Merino is naturally antibacterial and does not smell like synthetic fibers, so you don't need to wash the sweater as often – drying and airing the clothes is usually sufficient.
Merino wool is a natural fiber and therefore decomposes into its natural elements, so it does not pollute oceans and waterways when washed or discarded.
All our merino wool is guaranteed to be mulesing-free and therefore comes from sheep farms with proper conditions. In addition, all our wool products are, of course, also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
What is mulesing?
Mulesing has been a routine surgical procedure for most sheep from which the majority of commercial wool originates. It is a method some sheep farmers use to prevent their sheep from being killed by infections caused by insects. The mulesing procedure involves cutting the skin from around the lamb's buttocks to create an area of bare, stretched skin. Because the scarred skin has no folds or wrinkles that can retain moisture and feces, it is less likely to attract flies that can cause the sheep's death. But mulesing is a painful surgical procedure for sheep, and it can be avoided. Fortunately, there are other ways to keep sheep safe from these insects, but the costs for producers are higher. That is why mulesing-free merino wool products may cost a little extra.
UV Swimwear
Our swimwear is made of 80% polyester and 20% elastane and is soft and comfortable for children to wear. The fabric is elastic, making the swimwear easy to put on and take off.
All our swimwear has UPF50+, which stands for "Ultraviolet Protection Factor," and is an indication of the level of protection against the sun's ultraviolet rays.
UV swimwear is made of the same materials as regular swimwear, but in UV swimwear, the fibers are woven so tightly that the sun's rays cannot penetrate. So, when our children's swimwear protects with UPF50+, it means that for every 50 rays hitting the fabric, only 1 ray passes through, thus protecting the clothing against 98% of the sun's rays.
What is UPF?
The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) measures the amount of UV radiation that penetrates fabric/textile and reaches the skin. UPF50+ is the highest available rating for fabrics, providing maximum sun protection by blocking more than 97% of the sun's harmful rays.
Sunscreen is still important!
Always remember sunscreen, though. We recommend applying sunscreen all over the child's body (20 minutes before going out in the sun and after each swim), ensuring the child will not get sunburnt if the UV swimwear is removed.

- Foot length - Measure the length from the heel to the tip of the big toe. The child should stand up so that the weight is correctly distributed on the foot. If necessary, place the child's foot on the tape measure to make it easier to read. To allow for growth, add 1.5 cm to the measurement and then choose the size where the measurement best corresponds to the length of the inner sole in the chart below.
Baby 0 - 3 years
Baby sizes are indicated by the child's height. For example, if the child measures 74 cm in height, this corresponds to our size 6-9 months.
